Hola
Mexican Cantina, Burlingame CA
Last night I went to Hola in downtown Burlingame. This restaurant is known for its nightlife, its great food, and extensive bar. It was a beautiful summer day, and a nice margarita and some good food felt like just the right thing. For a non-peak night the place was pretty full and noisy. Don't expect to have intimate conversations here. My friend had the Carnitas Pixatla while I had the Pollo en Mole ( both $14.95). We also ordered the Hola! Margarita and the Mexican Mojito- a Mojito made with tequila. The carnitas were large cubes of pork , which seemed dry on the outside but had a juicy center, overall a tasty dish. The Pollo en Mole had a great Mole sauce- almost too rich. Sadly, the chicken was overdone and a little tough, accompanied by side dishes of rice and beans, which were slightly too salty. On the beverage side, the Mexican Mojito was refreshing and had a bit of a bite. The Hola! Margarita tasted about the same as every other "insert restaurant name here " Margarita. The service was ordinary - nothing to write on this blog about. Overall I expected a little more from Hola considering the hype, but I would give it another try.
